Special Briefing on the Humanitarian Situation in Gaza
U.S. Agency for International Development Mission Director to the West Bank and Gaza Howard Sumka and Elizabeth Hopkins, Director for Assistance, Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs will update the press on the humanitarian situation in Gaza on Friday, January 9, 2009. This on-the-record, off-camera, telephonic briefing will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Department of State Press Briefing Room (Room 2209).
Media representatives who plan to attend this briefing should allow adequate time to process through security at the 23rd Street entrance and present one of the following: (1) a U.S. Government-issued media identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification (driver's license or passport).
