Somalia agreement
Lord Malloch-Brown commented on the agreement between the Transitional Federal Governement and the Alliance for the Re-liberation of Somalia.
"I very much welcome the news from the UN sponsored talks in Djibouti that the Transitional Federal Governement (TFG) and the Alliance for the Re-liberation of Somalia (ARS) have reached agreement on a cessation of violence. This is an important step towards a full political settlement in Somalia.
"I would like to congratulate all the parties to these talks for their commitment to the process and, in particular, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah for his hard work in facilitating the agreement.
"I hope that other Somali Groups will join this process soon."
