SECRETARY RICE: Good afternoon. I would like very much to welcome the Prime Minister of Poland. Prime Minister Kacynski it's a great pleasure to have you here. Poland and the United States are the best of friends. We share values. We share a long history. Poland has been a fierce fighter in the defense of freedom, both in the past and now in the present as you have made it Poland's commitment to help others who are seeking freedom and democracy. Thank you for your friendship and thank you for joining me here in Washington.
PRIME MINISTER KACYNSKI: (Via interpreter) I'd like to thank you for these kind words of welcome today. It is true I'm visiting the U.S. The U.S., which is a country with which Poland has maintained long relations of friendship. Poles have been present in the history of the U.S. from the very beginning and today we are moving in very good relations.
If I'm asked to find words that would best reflect our relations it would be freedom, continuous fight for freedom, for the maintenance of freedom and for the progress of freedom through the global scene. It is honor to be here today and to be able to talk to Madame Condoleezza Rice.
