Greenpeace actions part of great Australia tradition
Greens MLC Ian Cohen today congratulated Greenpeace for their courageous non-violent protest action in the Southern Ocean.
"Greenpeace activities are part of the great Australian tradition of protest," Mr Cohen said.
"The Australian community is right behind Greenpeace's efforts to save whales and the Australian Government should be doing more to support their work.
"While the Federal environment Minister makes the right sounds about whaling it is action that counts and that is why it is so important that we have Greenpeace in gear.
"The whalers have the guns and harpoons. Greenpeace stands up against a cruel and bloody activity. These peaceful and unarmed leviathan human shields are doing a great service for all.
"I salute the bravery of the activists who are at sea for as much as 3 months at a time. Their work is something Australians can be rightly proud of," Mr Cohen said.
