Masked settlers attack Christian Peacemaker Team, international, Amnesty International workers and Palestinians near Tuba
Injured transported by ambulance
Saturday, October 9, around 3p.m., eight settlers with wooden sticks and sling shots attacked CPT members Dianna Zimmerman and Diane Janzen, an Operation Dove member, a resident from Tuwani, two residents from Tuba, and two members of Amnesty International, Donatella Rovera and Maartje Houbrechts.
The team was accompanying children from Tuwani to Tuba, along a path that skirts the Ma'on settlement and the Ma'on Ranch, about eight kilometers south of Hebron.
The accompaniment team spotted the settlers, dressed in blue jeans, t-shirts, and masks walking toward them and immediately called the police and began walking quickly away. Three of the settlers with sling shots ran after the Palestinians hurling stones at them. The other five settlers attacked the accompaniment team.
The masked settlers hit Donatello Rovera and Diane Janzen with wooden sticks. Then the settlers attacked the Operation Dove member, and stole his video camera.
The settlers finally ran away when one of the internationals, a women from the United States, yelled at the settlers in Hebrew, "The police are coming. You are not going to get away with this."
The Operation Dove member cannot move his arm and collapsed on his way to the ambulance.
The army announced a military closed zone for the path which runs beside the Ma'on settlement.
This is the second serious attack on CPT members and internationals in the last week. Two members of CPT were hospitalized after being attacked by masked settlers using chains and bats.
