Budrus Resistance to the Construction of the Wall Intensifies
Israelis, Internationals Join to Support Action
When: Tuesday, September 22 at 7:30AM Where: Budrus Who: Budrus residents, internationals and Israelis
Tomorrow the villagers of Budrus will turn-out once again to continue their non-violent resistance to the construction of the Wall on their lands. The plan is to stop the bulldozers that are uprooting olive trees and destroying the land, robbing the villagers of their sources of livelihood.
Residents of Budrus have successfully resisted the construction of the Wall on their land for the past ten months. However, in the past two days, bulldozers have begun to prepare the land for the Wall's foundation.
Today villagers from Budrus marched to the Masgoofah area to protest the return of the bulldozers and were met with Israeli Army tear gas, concussion grenades, rubber bullets and night sticks.
At approximately 2:00PM a group of at least thirty Palestinian women marched toward the construction site, flanked by internationals. In spite of the threat of a violent reaction from the Israeli army, experienced earlier in the day, they protested the Wall construction for over an hour.
At least 25 people have been injured by rubber bullets, including an Israeli activist and a member of the press.
Three Israeli activists have been arrested and are being held in Givat Zeev settlement.
The Israeli Army continues to occupy Budrus at the time of this release.
