Balatta refugee camp invaded Tues 4th
Nablus - Today, Tues 4th Nov, the army invaded Balatta camp at 3:30 am, they are still in the camp at time of writing, 12:30pm. They have come equipped with atleast 1 bulldozer, 1-3 tanks, jeeps and humvees.
They have shot and injured 9 people, mostly children, with live ammunition and Ulrika, a 25 year old ISMer from Sweden, has been hit in the collar bone by a rubber bullet. She was medicaly treated in a UPMRC ambulance in Balatta, since the army has closed all exits from the camp.
The bulldozer has been used to erect roadblocks at atleast some entrances, digging up the recently tarmaced streets. The army has been shooting live ammunition as well as rubber bullets, tear gas, sound bombs and smoke.
There have been heavy clashes between stone throwing youths and the tanks and jeeps. The Israeli occupation force has occupied atleast 2 houses and possibly more in the camp.
The army has ejected all press and journalists who where present in the camp.
We have reports that the army has started house to house searches, typicaly resulting in much property destruction. We have also been informed of the approach of 5 more tanks coming from Huwwara military base to the area.
