A Response To Ganesh Chand And Yusuf Roshan¹S Statements On The Pm¹S UN Speech
However negative, Yusuf Roshan, Ganesh Chand and these Labour Party cronies continue to view the Interim Administration,
the fact does not change, the Interim administration is here to stay as a caretaker government only.
Roshan and Chand and his colleagues ought not to worry so much about Fiji not being in the hands of Chand and his lot.
They were given the perfect opportunity to do that and blew it.
The group, need not worry, and should not lose sleep over how the country is being currently run. Fiji is in very good
hands; members appointed to the current administration are credible, experienced and determined people who answered the
call of the Bose levu Vakaturaga, the President and the nation to serve for the interim.
The Interim Administration¹s intentions are widely known. If these have not been made clear enough; it intends to get
back to constitutional, democratic governance as quickly as possible.
Chand¹s reception of Qarase¹s UN speech is to be expected. He and his colleagues will never accept this administration.
Roshan¹s poor attempt at dissecting the speech, reflects his own limited and narrow mentality. He should not even try
and pretend that he understands Fijian culture and social structure.
The words said by Qarase "Chiefs and commoners alike have their place" is criticised by Roshan as an indictment on
Fijians. It is not!
Every indigenous Fijian knows exactly where he stands in the traditional Fijian hierarchy. Qarase has not kept anyone
down by that statement, to be exact, he himself is a commoner.
Roshan and Chand were not expected to understand that. They do not know the intricacies and uniqueness of Fijian
traditional practice and structure to understand what the Prime Minister was saying.
This is part of the complexity of the situation in Fiji. It is what the Prime Minister is requesting the world to
understand.
We can do without the patronising attitude of the two seemingly learned individuals who with their so-called
Œdoctorates¹ have reflected nothing but sheer arrogance in telling indigenous Fijians what is wrong with them.
Roshan makes allegations about the Prime Minister; unaccounted money, leaping ahead of others, where is the additional
money coming from?
Mr Qarase has done more in his life for Fijians then Roshan would otherwise think and that he and Chand would have done.
Mr Qarase¹s integrity remains intact; his reputation remains unquestionable, he is the man at the helm and he has been
entrusted by many indigenous Fijians to see this country through.
Roshan makes constant reference to innocent Fijian brothers and sisters, that is an insult; Fijians are capable of
thinking for themselves, and it will not take words of wisdom from the likes of him and Chand to get them thinking.
Perhaps GC ought to look back at the events prior to May 19th, to get his facts right!!
How can he say that the indigenous Fijian community did not feel threatened by the Peoples Coalition Government?
What were the mass demonstrations held in Suva and Lautoka for?
Did the elections accurately show that indigenous Fijians had in GC¹s words, "overwhelmingly endorse the Peoples
Coalition policies?"
THE ANSWER IS NO.
Why won¹t GC admit that in the 1999 General Elections the Fiji Labour Party (FLP) received 1.8% (less than 2%) of the
Fijian primary votes.
The FLP won the general election through the solid 68% Indian vote it won in all the Indian communal seats.
Moreover the party could not field a single candidate in the Fijian communal constituencies in Western Viti Levu, where
it had very strong Indian support.
The FLP was never a multi-ethnic party. It was always an Indian controlled party.
THAT GANESH CHAND, IS DISTORTION !!!
There is no deception at all about the reception to the Prime Minister¹s message to the UN and his message to CMAG,
which were quoted as "taken well" and "appreciated" as conveyed by the Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister¹s
Office.
Ganesh Chand wasn¹t there, so he would not have had a clue.
Contrary to what he wants to believe, members of the Interim Cabinet are totally supportive of the Prime Minister and
their allegiance and loyalty to the administration remains unquestionable.
What Ganesh Chand supposedly heard over the weekend, regarding members of the Cabinet being "fed up" with Mr Qarase is a
replay of his own warped mind and a figment of his own imagination.
