CONFERENCE
REF: SECSTATE 6668
We delivered reftel demarche to Mara Rone, head of the MOE's EU and
International Cooperation Division, and Vilnis Bernards of the MOE's
Division of Species and Habitats Protection. The GOL will take the
U.S. proposals into consideration when working on the EU common
position but, according to Ms. Rone, the EU position is still under
consideration at this time. Latvia, which is facing serious budget
constraints, has not decided if it will send representatives to the
CITES conference.
