(SBU) DCM delivered reftel demarche January 28, which
described American actions to assist Haiti with the aftermath
of its earthquake, to Cho Hyun, the new ROK Deputy Foreign
Minister for Multilateral and Global Affairs Division. The
DCM emphasized that the Haitian Government is the driving
force behind all relief and recovery efforts. DFM Cho
thanked the DCM for the update and stressed that managing the
ROKG's 7.5 million USD relief donation and upcoming dispatch
of 217 ROK peacekeepers are top priorities for the IO bureau.
DFM Cho added that IO Bureau Director-General Shin Dong-ik
will lead a nine-member interagency PKO survey team to Haiti
on January 29.
