1. (SBU) Acting POLE counselor conveyed reftel A message on
October 21 to Patric Franzen, Regional Coordinator for Middle
East Affairs at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs
(FDFA). Franzen expressed appreciation for the information.
He commented that the fact that Secretary Clinton plans to
attend the November 2-3 BMENA Forum for the Future meeting in
Marrakech would be a factor in the FDFA's decision-making
regarding the level at which Switzerland will be represented
(reftel B). Franzen could not yet confirm, however, whether
FM Calmy-Rey will attend the Marrakech meeting of the Forum.
Post will report Switzerland's plans for representation at
the meeting once we have a definitive response from the FDFA.
