SUBJECT: MEETING WITH LIAONING ENTRY EXIT BUREAU RE
ECUADOR'S VISA WAIVER POLICY

1. (SBU) On September 5, conoffs met with Liaoning Provincial
Entry Exit Administration Bureau (EEB) officials to discuss the
issues and information outlined in State 90800. Representing
the EEB, which is a subset of the Public Security Division,
were Ms. Du Juan, Bureau Chief, and Mr. Liang Qi Min,
Secretariat Chief.
2. (SBU) Du thanked conoffs for the information and said that
so far they had not seen any impact from the new Ecuadorian visa
waiver policy. She expressed EEB,s concerns about the
situation and emphasized that the Chinese Government's policy
was to work to prevent illegal immigration. She said that
EEB officials would pay greater attention to travelers
indicating Ecuador as their destination. Du also said the
EEB was willing to share relevant information with the
consulate.
