SUBJECT: ABDUCTORS RELEASE RADIO FREE LIBERTY-IRAQ
JOURNALIST JUMANA TAKE
1. (SBU) Jumana Take was released by her captors on October
31, 2007 after 9 days in captivity. Ms. Take is an Iraqi
citizen freelance journalist employed at times by Radio Free
Liberty-Iraq (RFL-I).
2. (SBU) According to Bill Key, Director of Corporate
Security for RFL, Ms. Take called the RFL-I desk on October
31 at approximately 8:30 am Central European Time (Zulu 2)
to inform RFL-I that she had been released and was at her
family's home in Baghdad. Ms. Take reported having been
struck on the head with a pistol, blackening her eyes. She
and her family declined RFL-I's offer of medical or
relocation assistance.
