Pol-Econ Officer met with MFA International Organizations
Officer Celia Morais to discuss our concerns about the UN
Human Rights Council's progress and to underscore the
importance of selecting a candidate from democratic Eastern
Europe in the upcoming election. Morais agreed that nations
committed to democracy should be selected whenever possible
and said Portugal would take our endorsement of Bosnia into
consideration. Portugal is currently in the process of
evaluating which Eastern European candidate it will support.
