A changeable week
This week is shaping up to be one of those where we all get a chance to have some dry and wet weather as weather systems
cross New Zealand.
A band of cloud and rain is set to cross the remainder of the South Island during Monday and the North Island on Tuesday
and Wednesday. "ForMonday, the wettest weather looks set to be on the West Coast of the South Island as a frontal system
moves slowly northwards, while the place to be for the start of the week is the east coast of the North Island, with
fine, dry and warm conditions for the likes of Gisborne and Hawke's Bay" meteorologist John Law said.
However, from midweek, an area of low pressure lingers off the east coast of the North Island, making Gisborne and
Hawke's Bay cloudier and wetter. Meanwhile, another ridge of high pressure slides across the South Island on Wednesday
bringing the return of some drier and brighter weather with it.
During the second half of the week, the area of higher pressure looks set to push back across the remainder of the
country from the Tasman Sea allowing most spots to enjoy some drier weather for a time.
