Aucklanders sought for Kiwifruit study
University of Auckland’s Human Nutrition Unit is looking for men and women to participate in a study looking at the
potential positive effects of kiwifruit extracts on the digestive system.
The study needs 40 participants aged between 20-65 who experience constipation or regular bowel discomfort but are
otherwise in good health and have not been diagnosed with Crohn’s or Coeliac disease.
During the 10 week trial participants will be given capsules containing either the kiwifruit extract or a placebo
product.
Participants need to visit the study team at the Human Nutrition Unit in Mt Eden for a few visits. A small gratuity will
be offered for the time taken to participate in the study and to cover the travel costs and all participants will
receive a copy of their results on request following the completion of the research.
This study was designed by research staff at the Human Nutrition Unit in association with New Zealand Extracts Ltd.
All information that participants provide will remain strictly confidential and no material that could personally
identify any participant will be used in any reports on this research.
