Welcome Rain For The North
Northland and Coromandel residents are likely to see more rain in the next few days than they have seen in the past few
months. MetService meteorologists are now forecasting that a low-pressure system developing in the Tasman Sea will bring
rain to northern areas on Sunday and Monday, and its arrival marks a change to unsettled weather that may well continue
into next week.
"Finally it looks like sufficient rain is coming to the north to fill up the water tanks, and many residents will
welcome this news", commented MetService Weather Ambassador, Bob McDavitt.
McDavitt went on to say that, depending on where the low-pressure system is on Monday, there is a risk of a period of
strong southeast winds and heavy rain affecting Gisborne and Hawke's Bay. "The track of this low-pressure system is
still uncertain, and it could be followed by yet another low-pressure system from the Tasman Sea."
"We know its going to be wet, but the details are still to be determined. Those concerned are encouraged to check the
latest weather forecasts for developments."
