Award-winning Wellington IT Company, Explorer Graphics, appoints Roger Holmes Miller to its Board of Directors
Wellington information technology company Explorer Graphics Ltd (EGL) has appointed Roger Holmes Miller to its Board of Directors.
In April this year EGL won the Cyber Gold category of the Wellington Region’s business awards, recognising EGL’s innovation, leadership and sustained growth in the information and communications sector.
Roger Holmes Miller is the Managing Partner of law firm Maude & Miller, who have offices in Porirua City, Wellington, and the Kapiti Coast. Roger specialises in commercial and trust law and acts as general counsel for a number of national and international corporate clients for whom he provides guidance on their governance and management issues, and their acquisitions and mergers. He is a member of the Institute of Directors, a Registered Trustee in NZ and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (UK).
EGL Chief Executive David Pimblott says: “Roger brings a unique blend of business credibility and professional experience to the company. He has previously been involved at Board level with other Information Technology companies and is currently chairman of a major supplier to that sector.”
Established in 1987, EGL develops and implements Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology with a special focus to date on the local government sector working with more than 20 city, district and regional councils, representing over 30% of NZ.
These territorial authorities use EGL services and GIS applications for infrastructural asset management, district planning, regulatory responsibilities and the delivery of customer services. The company’s other long-term clients include the Ministry of Economic Development and Airways Corporation.
EGL has also achieved recognition by winning international awards from Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) for its Aeronautical Charting work and won the Best Cyber Business award at the 2003 Porirua City Business Awards. Located in Whitby, north of Wellington, EGL is a Business Partner of ESRI, one of the largest GIS technology companies in the world. In March 2003, EGL was presented with a Foundation Partner award by ESRI for the company’s contribution to GIS implementation and development in NZ based upon ESRI technology.
