Easter Weather: cold and changeable.
MetService meteorologists are forecasting more waves of wet and cold weather during Easter. From Thursday night to Good Friday morning a low is expected to cross the North Island accompanied by briefly heavy rain. By Easter Sunday another burst of southerly wind should spread north bringing showery conditions to all eastern areas.
"These weather conditions are likely to pose problems to Easter travellers", commented MetService Weather Ambassador, Bob McDavitt. "It should also be mentioned that the forecast for Saturday and the start of Sunday looks to be fine in many places, and fine weather is likely for many on their return home on Monday."
Temperatures over Easter are expected to remain generally two or three degrees below average, except for Westland which is likely to be the sunniest region. These cold conditions just help make chocolate eggs look more appealing.
