KTB Wires Staff for Real-Time with PeopleSoft
The first bank in Thailand to run its systems on Pure Internet Architecture™
Krung Thai Bank Public Co., Ltd will move its 14,500 employees online with PeopleSoft’s Human Capital Management solution, to streamline its HR processes, free up HR staff from administrative tasks to focus on more strategic issues, and empower employees.
The solution is expected to go live in October 2003, and will provide employees, management and HR staff with instant access to their data, enabling them to transact in real time, online. Employees will manage their own personal information online, take online training courses, request annual leave and complete expense reports. The PeopleSoft 8 solution is built on PeopleSoft’s Pure Internet Architecture™, which means that all an employee needs to access the system is a web browser.
“With the PeopleSoft solution we are giving our staff direct access and input to core HR tasks, such as applying for annual leave or changing their address. We are also delivering online courses to employees over the web,” said Mr. Chaichana Kasemsuk, Vice President, HR Department and Project Manager, Krung Thai Bank Public Co., Ltd. “By removing these tasks from our HR staff we are not only enabling them to focus on more strategic issues, but we are also enabling employees to self-manage.
Mr. Chaichana commented, “Our old HR system was very inflexible while our employees had limited access to the system. The executives, in particular, didn’t feel that the HR database system was there for them to utilise. With PeopleSoft HCM, Krung Thai Bank will be armed with a single source of better information upon which to make decisions, and we anticipate our performance will improve significantly.”
The deployment of HCM is a significant project for KTB. As part of the project, the Bank will provide computers and internet access to all employees, to ensure maximum leverage from the PeopleSoft solution.
“Technology is enabling Krung Thai Bank to become a Real-Time Enterprise. With our employees having instant access to their information, we will empower them. With their access to online learning, we will be able to develop them. With better access to employee data, management will act faster, and with more knowledge. As an organisation, we will perform better,” said Mr. Chaichana.
Through the transformation of their Human Capital Management, KTB anticipates:
 Online HR systems, resulting in a ‘paperless’ environment
 Faster, more efficient HR processes
 Better management information from a single data source
 More highly skilled workforce through faster, cheaper online learning
Commenting on the selection of PeopleSoft, Mr. Chaichana said, “The PeopleSoft solution clearly offered the best fit for KTB. The functionality in the solution met most of our requirements, and also offered us a strong return on investment proposition.”
“With this transformation of their HR processes and practices, KTB are displaying their industry leadership. They will experience a better performing HR function, higher skilled employees and a business that operates on sound business information,” said Angus McDougall, General Manager PeopleSoft, South Asia.
