CLEAR Launches Ebusiness Insurance

Published: Tue 13 Mar 2001 03:08 PM
CLEAR Communications is offering cyber risk protection to its business customers through a new insurance package.
The specialist insurance packages, provided by international brokers Willis, can be tacked on to CLEAR's PaySafe credit card product and other ebusiness and web hosting services. CLEAR is also offering, through Willis, an ebusiness risk assessment programme for businesses using email, a web site, Intranet, Extranet or other ecommerce applications.
CLEAR ecommerce manager Michael Skinner says the new suite of products provides a practical solution to a business problem. "It removes another barrier for many companies considering taking their businesses online," he says.
The packages include merchant transaction insurance to reduce risk in the case of credit card fraud, and Internet liability insurance to protect against online risks such as copyright infringement, defamation and unintentionally transmitting a computer virus.
In addition, the risk assessment programme provides an e-security consultant to audit the ecommerce operations of CLEAR customers. Risks might include copyright infringements on images or a lack of expiry dates on pricing specials, says Mr Skinner.
