Union website changes name under pressure
Last week Finsec, the union for bank employees, set up a website for workers at the ASB. The ASB lawyers threatened to take action unless the name was changed.
“We've changed the name, because it makes no difference to us and because the ASB Bank is older than us and has more insurance,” said Gordon Webley of Finsec  the union for bank employees.
“The new domain name is www.bankunion.org.nz – a change from www.asbbankunion.org.nz.
"We're using the website to supplement our face-to-face meetings with ASB staff. Other bank workers can choose between individual and collective agreements. The ASB workers cannot.
"We hope that in the new climate of good faith the ASB's managing director, Ralph Norris, who is also the chair of the BusinessRoundtable – an advocate of choice – will not restrict the choices that his staff have over their employment agreements."
