Taxpayers' Union Welcome End to CTU/Business NZ Rort
The Taxpayers' Union is welcoming news that the Government will cease funding theACC training programme that has cost taxpayers $19 million since 2003 but was shown to waste 84 cents in the dollar. Taxpayers’ Union Executive Director Jordan Williams says:
“Last year we exposed this cosy deal which has seen Business NZ and the CTU pick up millions. We exposed ACC's own analysis which showed that for every dollar spent on the programme, 84 cents was wasted.”
"At the time the then Minister for ACC labelled the scheme a 'rort'. Rather than improving health and safety many considered the initiative backdoor funding of the big business and trade union groups.”
"This is a victory for ACC levy payers and those who want money spent on projects that actually improve workplace health and safety."
