The MSD Bureaucrat Cut That Isn't
4 NOVEMBER 2014
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Responding to reports that the Ministry of Social Development is cutting 98 positions, but establishing 107 in response, Taxpayers’ Union Executive Director Jordan Williams says:
“Last time we looked the economy was doing well with benefit dependency tracking down. Why do we now need even more Wellington pen pushers to manage a smaller social welfare system?”
“Every additional bureaucrat is one less job in the private sector which pay for them."
“When elected John Key promised a sinking lid on Wellington's public servants. In reality the number of bureaucrats is as high as it was at its peak under the last Labour-led Government.”
