Family of Robert Ellis demand a proper investigation
The family of a New Zealander killed in Indonesia are growing increasingly concerned at the lack of information they’ve received, and the handling of the investigation into his murder.
Kelvin Ellis, son of victim Robert Ellis, has just returned from Bali where he has tried unsuccessfully to get information from the Indonesian authorities.
“We’ve received no communication from them. We found out about it all on the internet,” says Kelvin. “I got to Bali to find out that the accused has been given access to the crime scene a number of times, even after confessing. This isn’t the right way to do things. It isn’t being handled in a professional or just way.”
“Our focus right now is on laying Dad to rest and supporting Peter and John, who have lost so much in this tragedy, but the family is united in seeking justice. Right now we are concerned that we won’t get it.
“We’re asking MFAT and the government to get involved on behalf the New Zealand relatives to ask the Indonesian government to make sure a proper investigation is conducted.”
