SFO Must Examine Disappearance of Tuwharetoa's $20 Million
30 JULY 2014
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Reacting to the NZ Herald’s report into suspected financial irregularities at Tuwharetoa since its Treaty Settlement in 2008, Jordan Williams, Executive Director of the Taxpayers’ Union, says:
“This was the biggest Treaty of Waitangi settlement in history, and only $16 million is left of the $66 million meant to serve future generations.”
“Taxpayers’ shouldn’t be lining the pockets of the few, in the name of the many when it comes to Treaty Settlements. We’re calling on the SFO to take over from the internal investigation being carried out by the Tuwharetoa trust."
