Rural Women New Zealand is campaigning to raise awareness about the 20kph speed limit when passing a stationary school
bus in either direction.
“Many people are totally unaware of this road code rule, and there have been some tragic accidents as a result,
including three children killed last year,” says RWNZ South Otago president, Hilary McNab. “Our local Tahatika branch
decided to do something about it by producing a calendar to raise funds to support school bus safety in the Clutha
District.”
The calendar features stunning rural photos by Angela Wylie, a photographer and member of Tahatika branch. The calendar
format also has plenty of space to write on, so that it can be used as a diary.
The calendar will be launched on 15 October - World Rural Women’s Day - at a ‘gold’ themed RWNZ event to be held in
Lawrence, West Otago.
The calendars are being sold for $20 and can be purchased from CRT Balclutha or by emailing jakhils@farmside.co.nz or
wylie@farmside.co.nz.
