CRIME STOPS HERE!
A month after the mother of an outspoken local body politician Aaron Keown was killed by boyracers, Rodney Hyde and
Roger Douglas asked him to join them in this year's election race, get into parliament and do something about it. After
much consideration, Keown has decided to take the bull by the horns and sort out boyracers and crime once and forever.
He has been nominated to stand for ACT in the seat of Waimakariri, but every ACT party vote in the country will get him
and his strong stance on law and order into parliament.
Keown said "There is only 120 people in New Zealand who get to change this country for better or for worse. The Norm
Withers referendum has proven that no amount of demand from the public will ever make a difference, so when my mother
was killed by boyracers on the 6th of May, I was being asked within days what was I going to do about it". After an
offer from Rodney Hyde and Roger Douglas a month later, Keown looked at all his options and realized the only way
forward was to be one of the 120. It turned out that the ACT slogan for this years campaign is 'The Guts To Do What's
Right', something that has always rung true with Keown's stance on politics. "I've got the guts to do what's right, and
now its up to whether the public has got the guts to vote for what's right" Keown said. He also went on to say that it
was only with a party like ACT that he would be given the political freedom to get the job done that 92% of the
population once voted for but the rest of parliament was too gutless to tackle.
Crime is simple says Keown with his personal slogan being 'When the punishment outweighs the crime, the crime stops!' I
will take strong but simple policies into parliament, for example:
1: For every crime you will get a sentence! No more concurrent sentences.
2: Limit Legal Aid to 3 convictions! After that plead guilty, pay for it yourself or give up crime.
3: No more prisoner compo!
4: No more modified cars! Same as Australia.
5: If you kill somebody as a result of committing a crime, you are automatically getting a life sentence. (Policeman
killed last week)
6: Life to mean Life!
Keown finished by saying "If the people of New Zealand actually want crime to stop then I will be in parliament this
year. If not the crime rate will keep rising. I have the guts to do what's right, will New Zealand vote for it".
