Incident At Muriwai - Investigation Continues

Rodney Police have completed the scene examination at Maori Bay, Muriwai, where a body was discovered in a burnt out motor vehicle last night, Monday 26 May 2008.
Police went to the scene soon after 7.00pm when volunteer firemen from Muriwai and Kumeu found the unidentifiable body inside a Toyota Hilux in the car park. The gender and age of the deceased body is unknown.
A post mortem examination will be carried out tomorrow to determine the cause of death and establish the identity of the deceased. The burnt out vehicle has been placed in secure storage for further forensic examination by ESR and police.
The Orewa CIB would like to hear from anyone who was in the locality of the Maori Bay car park at Muriwai throughout yesterday and last night.
They would also like anyone who has any knowledge of the movements of any Toyota Hilux vehicle seen in the Muriwai area throughout yesterday and last night to contact them on telephone 09 426 4555.
