Greenpeace challenged on ETS
Greenpeace has been challenged to produce valid verifiable scientific evidence that human emissions of carbon dioxide
cause sufficient “global warming” to justify the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) Bill. The challenge has been laid down
by Terry Dunleavy, secretary of the New Zealand Climate Science Coalition, and executive vice-chairman of the
International Climate Science Coalition.
“Greenpeace’s abuse of National Party leader John Key for calling for a closer look at the justification for haste in
passing the ETS Bill, would have some point if Greenpeace could show that there is any current increase in global
temperatures, and something more than computerised guesses that human emissions of CO2 affect those temperatures. Not
only is there no such evidence, but daily more and more independent international scientists are contradicting the
hypothesis advanced by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change IPCC).
“Perhaps Greenpeace will explain why it is that there has been no increase in global temperatures since 1998, in spite
of continuing small increases in levels of CO2 in the atmosphere. And, if this evidence that CO2, from whatever source,
natural or human, is not resulting in global warming, what is the justification for requiring New Zealanders to pay hard
earned money for CO2 emissions?
“New Zealanders should see Greenpeace, and their Parliamentary stooges, the Green Party, for what they really are:
woolly headed fantasists who want to control the way we live our lives. They have taken up where the Marxists left off:
green is the new red,” said Mr Dunleavy.
