For Immediate Release. New Start with a Smack of Direct Democracy.
Republican candidate for Napier and party spokesman for Direct Democracy, Mr Brett Docherty says,
“It is time for a New Start for Kiwis, with Direct Democracy.”
Obviously there should be a Binding National Referendum (BNR) on smacking. If we already had BNR all the fuss about
parental discipline caused by Ms Bradford would not have been necessary, and the law would reflect the wishes of the
people.
“What we need is a Republican in Sue Bradford’s seat,” says the Napier Candidate.
“Wayward social policy set by a left wing girls club is undermining families and is totally unacceptable. Kiwis have
seen enough of a desperate labour Government pandering to loony Green Policy just to remain in power,” say Mr Docherty.
Important issues like smacking should on a regular basis be put to the people, as they do in countries like Switzerland.
The Republic of New Zealand Party would bring Direct Democracy into play as soon as possible, put smacking and other
issues to BNR (Binding National Referendum).
“The Clark Government is out of control and must go,” concludes Mr Docherty.
