Youth Enterprise group takes wage slavery message to Australasian schools
‘Kia Kaha’ is the message the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union is sending to high school youth enterprise
company the Urban Warriors in the lead up to tonight’s Youth Enterprise Awards.
The St Thomas students are in Wellington for the award ceremony tonight after successfully producing and marketing their
educational book about wage slavery in the third world, “A Perfect Day”, across New Zealand and Australia.
The EPMU helped the Urban Warriors with their launch earlier this year as part of its ongoing commitment to community
involvement.
EPMU National Secretary Andrew Little says the group have shown that a progressive message can be a winner.
“These students have developed a literacy tool that’s gone into the curriculum in Australia and been widely distributed
in New Zealand and they’ve based it around a serious political issue.
“The fact that they’ve had so much success hand in hand with getting a serious message out to our young people is a
tribute to their business skills and to their ethics.
“We’re wishing the Urban Warriors the best of luck at tonight’s awards and are proud to be associated with their
achievements.”
The awards ceremony is being held from 5.30pm tonight at the Wellington Intercontinental Hotel and the EPMU will be
hosting the team to a special lunch tomorrow.
