Help for Jewish Victims of Nazi Persecution
Elderly Jewish victims of Nazi persecution may be able to obtain a grant towards the provision of essential social
services, the Wellington Jewish Care of the Aged Society has announced.
The Society said it was pleased the New York based Conference on Jewish Material Claims against Germany had agreed to
provide funds for a programme to be managed by a local Advisory Committee.
While the Advisory Committee had a wide discretion regarding the nature of the help that would be funded, the Society
said it was likely that payments could include emergency situations such as food assistance, relocation, preventing
eviction, essential clothing, and medical needs for which other funding was unavailable.
Preference will be given to applicants whose income is below $20, 916, or $ 33, 083 in the case of a couple. The maximum
pay out has been set at $1500.
The Society hoped that those who thought they might be eligible, or knew of anyone who could be, would contact the
Secretary as soon as possible.
Application forms can be obtained from Dr Susi Williams, Secretary of the Advisory Committee to the HSEAP, 80 Webb
Street, Wellington. Applications should be received by 1 March 2007
