ACTs Richard Prebble steals name for his book says Advance New Zealand
The new book from Richard Prebble is notable for two things - firstly that the title is not original. 'Out of the Red' was the title of a 1978 book by Gordon Dryden, which was scathing about the sort of right wing economic mythology promoted by the ACT people.
Secondly, Richards's book confirms that he and his fellow travellers flogged off the national assets that belonged to the taxpayers of New Zealand.
The obvious conclusion to be drawn from where our country is at today is that Mr Prebble not only failed to get NZ out of the red but lead the charge into what became a black hole for far too many people.
He should read the original Out of the Red, out of which he could gain some ideas that may cause him to rethink his beliefs in economic mythology. Perhaps he should also apologise to Mr Dryden for nicking the name.
