BURMA GROUP, University of Auckland.
8th August 1988 the people of Burma protested against the ruling Military Junta, seeking Democracy and Human Rights. The ruling Military Junta responded to the peaceful demonstration with brutal oppression. Protesters were slaughtered, protest leaders (university students) sacrificed their lives in order to bring Democracy and human rights into Burma. The protest and later uprising failed because the Burmese people didn't have support of the international community.
Please come and join Burma Support Group today to commemorate the 8.8.88 event. Lets make a difference together. Together we can demand international pressure on Burma and ask UN Security Council to take action and bring an end to the oppressive military dictatorship.
8th of August @ SLT 1 @ 1pm or 7.30pm @ 1439 Engineering Building.
