Refugee Seeks to Rescue Father from Torture in China
Having not seen her father for three years, a Chinese refugee seeks support to free her father from a brainwashing
centre in Mainland China
The New Zealand Government recently accepted Ms Yanchen for resettlement He and her husband Mr Ziwei Yang as United
Nations Mandate refugees. The New Zealand Government has since granted them permanent residence. Both Ms He and Mr Yang
were persecuted in Mainland China simply for being Falun Gong practitioners. It has been several years since Ms He last
saw her father. Both father and daughter miss each other greatly, and remain separated simply because of the Chinese
Communist Party’s brutal campaign of persecution waged against Falun Gong.
Her father Mr He Sanpu is a Falun Gong practitioner who is currently illegally detained in a purpose-built anti-Falun
Gong brainwashing centre in Mainland China simply because he refuses to abandon his belief in Falun Gong. Mr He Sanpu
was a respected senior cadre at the Propaganda Department of Henan Provincial Party Committee of the Chinese Communist
Party for more than 20 years. In spite of his loyal service to that Party, he has since been subjected to unlawful
detention, torture and systematic brainwashing attempts. His faith in Falun Gong remains undiminished.
Ms He has sought the assistance of the New Zealand Embassy in Beijing, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs. In
the meantime her father remains in custody and continues to be persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party. After years of
separation, she is determined to secure the release of her father and enable him to travel to New Zealand to be reunited
with him.
