Recruitment Begins For Director Of Security
The State Services Commission will tomorrow begin public advertising for a new Director of Security for the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service.
The State Services Commissioner has been asked by the Government to manage the processes for selection of candidates for appointment to this role. The current Director, Richard Woods, will retire in October 2006.
The Director of Security is appointed by the Governor-General and works directly to the Minister responsible for the Service - by convention the Prime Minister.
Job advertisements will be placed by SSC in print media and online at www.jobs.govt.nz The advertisements will state that the Director must have a strong personal commitment to excellence, the highest standards of honesty and integrity, and highly developed intellectual abilities - including strategic skills, a thorough appreciation of international affairs, and the ability to work effectively in New Zealand's government system. The Director must be a New Zealand citizen, and appointment will depend on a New Zealand Government Top Secret Special security clearance.
