Singaporean ‘Guns’ arrive for annual exercise in Waiouru
An artillery regiment from the Singaporean Armed Forces (SAF) has arrived in New Zealand to conduct a military exercise in Waiouru, which runs from 15 – 24 January.
Exercise Thunder Warrior is held annually and provides the SAF with the opportunity to undertake artillery live firing training and serves to strengthen the defence relationship between Singapore and New Zealand.
500 SAF personnel will be participating in this exercise, which includes twelve FH2000 artillery guns, four Singapore Light Weight Howitzers (SLWH) PEGASUS as well as associated weapon-locating radar.
NZ Army personnel from Linton Military Camp will provide logistic and liaison support to the Singaporean contingent. The annual exercise has been conducted by the SAF in Waiouru since 1997.
