Grey Power Welcomes Com. Com. Regulated Control Of TransPower
It is obvious that TransPower needs to invest in its system to meet the demands of increasing load, it is how that investment is made that requires close scrutiny. Some of the decisions made in the past have been subject to some doubt when viewed from the outside said Mr Graham Stairmand, President of the Grey Power Federation on hearing this recent announcement.
There is also the question of whether the amounts of proposed price increases are in fact justified. The consumers are entitled to know how their money is being spent.
Therefore Grey Power welcomes the proposal by the Commerce Commission to regulate control of TransPower. We are right behind this proposal and would encourage the Commission to proceed.
There is far too much uncontrolled profiteering going on in the electricity business and consumers are being ripped off left right and centre. We urge the Commission to go further and look closely at the pricing mechanisms of the Generators and Retailers as well
