Children’s Day Just Four Sleeps Away!
National Children’s Day is just around the corner with children throughout New Zealand counting down to special
Children’s Day events planned in their honour this Sunday 30 October.
“This Children’s Day looks set to be a huge fun-filled day, with a wide variety of events being planned to celebrate our
nation’s children,” says Children’s Commissioner Dr Cindy Kiro. “I encourage everyone to get involved this year by
attending the Children’s Day events and activities happening all over New Zealand or creating their own special
celebrations at home."
More than 300 events have already been registered on the Children’s Day website www.childrensday.org.nz, with new events
being posted daily. Visit the website to find out what’s happening in your community. Free entertainment, festivals,
face painting, teddy bear’s picnics, storytelling sessions, bouncy castles, games, and prizes are just some of the
celebrations happening on Children’s Day, providing ways for children and their families to spend special time together.
Children’s Day was established in 2000 by a group of supporters from government and non-government organisations. Their
vision is to see children celebrated, nurtured and treasured by all. Their commitment is to see Children's Day set up as
a non-commercial annual tradition in all communities in New Zealand.
