Annette Anderson selected for Progressive in Coromandel
The Progressive Party has selected Annette Anderson as its candidate in Coromandel where she will again be campaigning
for party votes in this year's general election.
"Annette was our candidate in the July 2002 election which was called at very short notice. I am very happy that Annette
will again be flying Progressive's colours in Coromandel this election," says Progressive deputy leader, Hon. Matt
Robson MP.
"Annette has strong ties within her community. I am sure she will raise the party vote tally for Progressive this year,"
Matt Robson said.
"Progressive candidates are campaigning for peoples' party vote this year as your pro-economic development and
anti-drugs insurance policy.
"If you support increased investment in higher education, if you support Jim Anderton's efforts inside of government to
promote the economic development of our regions and if want your politicians to take the tough decisions on youth binge
drinking and other youth drug problems, then our candidates' message is: Party Vote Progressive," Matt Robson said.
Annette Anderson - Coromandel
Annette, the mother of three adult children, lives in Thames where she is president of the Citizens Advice Bureau's
management committee, a voluntary Court Assistant, a role which involves assisting the Registrar by dealing with clients
and arranging appointments with the duty solicitor and also a member of the local Restorative Justice team.
Annette, who has traveled through Africa and worked and lived in the U.K. as well as various New Zealand cities
including Auckland and Rotorua, first became interested in politics as a young mother struggling to raise her family at
a time when the Third National Government was busily destroying the economic and social fabric of New Zealand society
with its high-debt policies.
Annette is very supportive of the Progressive Party's efforts to promote work-life balance policies within the coalition
government over the past six years, including Matt Robson's Private Bill on Four Weeks Annual Leave for workers which
she believes will make a significant, positive difference to workers when the children come along.
Progressive is a partner in the coalition government first elected in 1999. Its leader, Jim Anderton, is the third
ranked Cabinet Minister with responsibility for Economic, Industry and Regional Development and the government's
campaign to reduce the harm caused by drugs.
