SCHAPPELLE CORBY MUST NOT DIE
The Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party is calling on the New Zealand Government to condemn any death sentence that may be
pronounced on Schappelle Corby by the Indonesian Government for cannabis charges. We expect our Government to put
pressure on the Indonesian Ambassador in N.Z.by joining the Australian Government's appeal against a death sentence for
Schappelle.
Australian and New Zealand continued support for the Single Convention Treaty and the international 'War on Drugs' gives
the Indonesian Government added licence, to continue their repressive drug laws.
The ALCP is committed to continue putting pressure on our Government, to follow through on the recommendations from two
Health Select Committee Inquiries, which found the current system of cannabis prohibition is a failed policy that does
nothing to stop people using cannabis.
The result of enforcing unworkable laws, encourages the lucrative black market and corruption, victimising people like
Shappelle Corby. She is not the first victim and according to our sources, this is certainly not the first time baggage
handlers have been used to assist drug couriers with their goods. It is common practice around the world.
If the NZ Government does nothing and Schappelle Corby is executed , they could be seen as complicit in her murder.
After all, the old saying is true: 'For evil to prevail, all it takes is for good people to do nothing.'
