New Zealand's own carpool website
Sick of rising petrol costs? Sick of traffic problems? Ever considered starting a carpool?
A new, free to use, and environmentally conscious carpool website (www.rideinfo.co.nz) has started up.
The website provides a valuable tool to help people get connected to other people wanting to carpool. With the website you able to create your own login and advertise carpools within New Zealand. Other people can contact you if you advertise a carpool without seeing your email address and all messages sent too other users are stored for security.
“The idea came to me when travelling into Wellington on a normal Friday afternoon” said website designer Mark Fitzwater. “Traffic was backed up again due to some accident out on the highway. After looking at the other cars I realize that all the cars around me only had one occupant. The driver.”
“A year ago I was travelling around the world and was very dismayed at the level of pollution in the world. Most places seemed to have a disturbing haze in the air.”
“Even though New Zealand still has relatively clean air and is a small country I believe we can lead by example and cut down on the number of vehicles we are taking into the cities.”
“The website is a free service and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. As it is self-funded at the moment I will be looking towards the regional councils to hopefully help with advertising and marketing of the site.”
