Brash To Address Grey Power
National Party Leader Don Brash will address the full Grey Power board on Friday 30th April 2004 at the Allenby Park Motel at 9.30am.
Grey Power sees this as D-Day and they want an indication of National’s policy approach to many issues.
Dr Brash has been labelled a liberal economist, and any proposed dramatic policy changes affecting the elderly would be met head on.
Most senior citizens still remember the “Bradford” reforms leading to the destruction of the Electricity Industry with massive price increases and the slashing of benefits by former finance minister, Ruth Richardson.
Grey Power, while applauding the announcement of those with disabilities to allow them to return to work, does express some reservations about this policy. “There are only the same facilities at present being used for elective surgery for the elderly and we express concern that many of the elderly have waited many years for surgery that may now be further lengthened”.
