Child, Youth And Family Concerned For Children’s Home Residents
Child, Youth and Family is concerned for former state wards who may have been abused while living in Salvation Army
children’s homes.
The Salvation Army is investigating complaints of abuse from 36 former residents, including an unknown number of state
wards.
Child, Youth and Family is making reasonable attempts, including talking to the Salvation Army, to identify how many
state wards were cared for in Salvation Army homes.
However, the historical nature of the placements means it does not expect to be able to identify all state wards it
placed in the homes.
Child, Youth and Family holds records on around 2 million present and former clients. Details of those who might have
been placed in Salvation Army homes between 1903 and 1993 are held in paper records.
