Two Soldiers Remain At Palmerston North Hospital
Two soldiers from Linton Camp remain in Palmerston North hospital for further treatment today after sustaining moderate injuries yesterday. A third solider treated for minor injuries was released last night.
All three soldiers were transferred to the Palmerston North Hospital, one by rescue Helicopter.
The accident happened at 5pm yesterday during a live firing exercise at the Army’s Waiouru training area. The accident occurred at a mortar firing point approximately 3km away from where 400 other Army personnel were participating in the exercise.
At this time the exact cause of the accident has not been established.
The accident is being fully investigated by the New Zealand Army.
