Budget: “Old Labour” showing its true colours

Published: Fri 16 May 2003 09:10 AM
The 2003 Budget can only be described as “Old Labour” showing its true colours.
Labour will put more people in state houses so that less people will own their own.
GP’s, traditionally self employed, will be enticed into a centrally funded beurocracy.
Cullen will remove the responsibility to save from the individual and place responsibility with the state’s superannuation fund.
Labour will invest heavily in Treaty Propaganda to promote the “Two Peoples” interpretation of the Treaty rather than the “One People” interpretation.
They will continue with their regional development lolly scramble to give the impression that they are astute in business matters.
The increase in police numbers is necessary, but only because of increased welfare dependency and the breakdown of the family.
Old Labour has strong support through their mastery of spin, but as they show their true colours, the pendulum will swing.
