GE-free people should follow their own advice

It would be a good idea if GE-free spokesman Jon Carapiet was to take his own advice the Chairman of the Life Sciences
Network, Dr William Rolleston, said today.
“I am astounded that he should tell us to keep away from his event on Saturday when his organisation, and others, are
planning a noisy and intrusive protest outside the international biotechnology conference in Auckland on Monday.
“Talk about double standards.
“Why is it that some people believe free speech and protest is the right of activists who are opposed to things but not
to people who want to support things?
“I am sure the majority of Aucklanders who do not share Mr Carapiet’s views will make their own decisions about whether
or not they express those views at his rally. We support their right to do so.
“But Mr Carapiet should refrain from trying to create a problem when there isn’t one. And if he can’t stand the heat of
his views being challenged in public he should get off the stage,” concluded Dr Rolleston.
