Hamilton Casino - Victory for Freedom and Property Rights
The Sky River Casino's Grand Gala Opening on September 19 will be a great day for freedom in Hamilton says Libertarianz Candidate for the Hamilton Mayoralty
Tim Wikiriwhi. "I wish to personally congratulate Sky Riverside Casino for their victory over Hamilton's socialist do-gooders."
Wikiwihi intends this literally - he intends to rally a small group of libertarians outside on opening night, in direct opposition to a planned socialist protest against the casino, before enjoying the facilities himself. He says that the libertarian clebration is in defense of the property rights of Hamilton businessmen, and for the liberty of all Kiwis to spend their money however they wish. Wikiriwhi scorns the notion of ex-Mayor Russ Rimmington, who attempted to stop this development, that the Casino is going to be bad for the central business district, calling it "as naive as saying Casinos are bad for Las Vegas! Nothing could be further from the truth!" Wikiriwhi says the casino will be a much-welcomed addition to the city, attracting fun-loving people from all over the country, making Hamilton even more attractive to tourists and a more exciting and prosperous place in which to live.
"Hamilton truly is moving up in the world," he says.
Attacking those who have fought against this development Wikiriwhi observed: "Socialists love controlling the money and property of other people; the fact that individuals will freely gamble with their money, for their own enjoyment is unconscionable to control freaks like Rimmington, Yates, Gallagher and Macpherson." Wikiriwhi says these "power-trippers must come to terms with the fact that the people shall freely determine the success or failure of the venture, not them." He notes also that no tax or ratepayer moneys are to be used to prop it up, unlike the numerous "millstones around ratepayers' necks like the new stadium." "The irony," says Wikiriwhi, " is that, come election time, these same politicians will undoubtedly pat themselves on the back when unemployment drops, and Hamilton experiences further growth and development, when in fact any growth will be in spite of their encroachments, not because of them."
Wikiriwhi concludes with a smile by wishing the Casino's backers "all the best for their bottom line."
