~ Tuesday 9 October, Wellington - vigil for peace, 5pm to 6pm, at the Cenotaph (cnr Bowen Street) - chalking, signing banner and petition, open mike speakers.

~ Tuesday 9 October, Auckland - ‘Women and the War on Terrorism’ with speakers: Simy Gulzar, Pakistani Women's Rights Activist; Farida Sultana, Shakti Asian Women's Centre; Maire Leadbeater, Indonesia Human Rights Committee and plenty of time for discussion. 7pm to 9pm, at the Auckland Women’s Centre, 4 Warnock St, Grey Lynn, the Auckland Women’s Centre is a women only space. ~ Wednesday 10 October, Wellington - presentation to parliament of the first batch of signatures on the petition calling for a peaceful response to the attacks in the US, 12-20pm to 1-30pm, parliament steps. No NZ military support for vengeance! as the politicians aren’t listening to what we’re saying please bring drums, something to bang, whistles etc so our message is loud and clear. ~ Satruday 13 October, Wellington - International Day of Action to Stop the Militarisation of Space - ‘Weapons in space: a new threat to peace and security? a seminar with representatives from peace and disarmament organisations, the NZ government, and other governments giving their views on the US government's plans to put weapons in space. From 9-40am (for registration, seminar starts at 10am) to 4-30pm, Lecture Theatre 1, Law School (old government buildings). ~ ongoing - the Nelson Peace Group has decided that rather than keep a vigil they are going to be wearing arm bands with an appropriate message or badge until the war ends. They will carry spares to give to people who wish to do the same.
